When you start with a powerful flexible system it becomes easy to manage your capacity and determine your constraints. We start with a flexible work center management system. Often companies have groups of work centers that perform similar work, but certain items must be manufactured at certain work centers, while others may be made at any work center in the group. The dilemma is how to configure the work centers so that you can get an accurate picture of capacity and workload. iBusiness™ solves this by allowing you to group as many work centers together as you like. When you set up your routings if an item may be made at any work center in the group you enter the group name in the routing, but if it needs to be made at a specific work center you enter that work center in the routing. When the work load is scheduled specific work centers are loaded first and then the general work centers based on the loading rules you establish. Many companies have constraints not with work centers but with people. iBusiness™ is designed to deal with that too. In iBusiness™ you create as many job classifications as you like and those job classifications are associated with each work center. The job classifications can also be associated with people so you can quickly see your capacity for any period of time. Each routing step can be fine tuned so if a step takes fewer people or more, it can be easily changed.
