Version 3.0 features a completely redesigned and flexible inventory location system. iBusiness™ now supports unlimited inventory locations and allows you to relate locations to one another. It is now possible to define a site, then a warehouse, then a rack in the warehouse, then a pallet position and finally a pallet within that pallet position , just as one example of the flexibility. In addition locations can be defined in many ways to aid in classification of inventory. Each individual location may be defined as either nettable or non-nettable for MRP, each individual location can be defined as a WIP location. Locations my either be physical locations, which conform to specific places in the factory or phantom locations which are virtual allocations which allow users to define inventory that you want to restrict access to. Any location may be defined as a quarantine location which means it cannot be consumed until it has been moved. Making it perfect to restrict access to inventory that might not have passed inspection yet. Additionally only users with appropriate permissions may remove inventory from quarantine locations removing the possibility of uninspected inventory being consumed accidentally New in Version 3.0 is a use field which automates many complicated inventory management functions. The allowed uses are: Consigned to Us: Allows you to define inventory on your site but is the property of the vendor until consumed. Inventory in locations defined this way will be available to planning but will not show up in the value of inventory until they are consumed in manufacturing. Consigned By Us: Allows you to ship inventory to customers. This allows you to manage inventory for customers. This inventory will only be available for the customer it is designated for but will remain in the value of inventory until it is sold. You will also be able to generate replenishment orders based what has been consumed. Customer Owned: Inventory designated as customer owned will be available for MRP but only for orders that belong to that customer. In addition you may have transactions for the item but the value of the inventory will not appear on the general ledger. General Inventory Locations are generally the majority of locations and those typically used to store components and finished inventory. Outwork Locations: Allow you to track inventory at vendors for subcontract manufacturing. Financially they remain in your inventory but are easily visible at your vendor's location making it easy to manage the inventory at your vendors. Spares: Allow you to categorize inventory held in reserve for repair and service orders, making sure critical spares are available when needed by your most important customers. Tools: Allows you to define inventory locations like tool cribs and other areas. Ideal when you have dual use inventory. This type of location will also be used in the new maintenance management module due out later this year. |
