The ibusiness item management functions allow you to easily keep track of all your items. Item codes can be up to 15 alphanumeric characters long and there are an unlimited number of user definable group and sub-group codes to allow you to classify your inventory appropriately. You can also define separate stock keeping, purchasing and sales units of measure. Furthermore the weight, volume and pallet configuration of every item may be tracked to assist you in transportation management. Each item can have its own shelf life and can be tracked using either lots, batches, or serial numbers (see the Lot & Batch module factsheet for more details). You can classify items using ABC codes to aid in cycle counting as well as lot size, and maximum and minimum inventory quantities. The system will then automatically calculate figures for average daily use, annualized use, months on hand, and economic order quantities (EOQs). A single window provides up to four years of usage history making it easy to spot usage trends. Drawings or other documents can be opened directly from the item master so that you can easily maintain all the information associated with an item from one place. There are three notes fields available for each item and these can be printed on bills of material, purchase orders, sales orders or other documents. A separate hazardous materials text field allows bills of lading to be printed with all the required information with no additional data entry. Two picture fields are available for each item which can be very useful when dealing with many similar parts. Inventory status information is easily available on every item from one convenient screen. This includes the inventory position at every location together with summarised data on total stock, open purchase orders, open sales orders, scheduled production and components allocated to manufacturing orders. A drill-down menu provides easy access to detailed information. As with all ibusiness functions extensive built in reports are available with more than fifty related to item management.
